Products for Bathroom Renovations | Bella Bathrooms

At Bella Bathrooms and Tiles, we take note of the latest trends and customer preferences regarding products for bathroom renovations. Apart from an extensive range of products to be used for bathtub renovations, we offer you a wide range of bathtubs. If there is one product that can enhance the outcome of your bathroom renovation project, it is the bathtub.

Don’t think of the bathtub as just a large basin to wash and get clean. It is a statement of your style and it should be comfortable, practical and aesthetically appealing. To get you started regarding the selection of products for bathroom renovations let’s look at the types of bathtub.

Free-standing

These tubs are suitable for middle-of-the-floor, corner or next to the wall placement. These tubs are not embedded into the wall or floor and perhaps because of their free-standing nature, provide an extra feeling of luxury that often lacks with normal built-in bathtubs. However, you will need more space for this style.

Still in the free-standing category, we can distinguish between highly classical, contemporary and ultra-modern designs. Here it will be a matter of the look that you are going for that will determine the design.

Three Wall Tub

If space is limited, then this is the tub of choice. It comes with a tub and shower in one and is normally corner placed with two or three sides connecting with the wall. It can be drop-in or under-mount styled.

Drop-In

The drop-in tub is enclosed in brick and mortar, or another enclosure material, to fit the overall theme of the bathroom. It is the more conventional style and perhaps also the best budget purchase. Many types are available and you can easily give your bathroom a complete facelift by installing one of the drop-in tubs.

Under-mount

If you don’t mind stepping down to get into the tub, the sunken or under-mount bath is absolutely stunning. It is not recommended for people with small children, as they can easily fall into the tub. Senior citizens and people with disabilities may also struggle with this type. However, if style is your ultimate guide, then the under-mount is stunning. Note that you most probably will want to install the tub in a larger bathroom, in order to get the full effect.

Corner

The corner bath can be a drop-in or an alcove type tub, but in most instances, this style will take up more space, but at the same time, give you a unique tub and loads of seating space. It is the tub to select for your guestroom or main bedroom.

Rules for Selecting a Tub for Bathroom Renovation

With so many products on the market specifically for bathroom renovation, you might fall into the trap of selecting a tub without consideration of space, functionality and your lifestyle, simply because the tub is affordable or so stylish that you must have it. Here are the rules of proper selection of bath tubs and other products for bathroom renovations to help you avoid the above trap:

  • Measure the available space in the bathroom and consider where you will place the tub, basin/s, toilet, shelves, cupboards, shower, towel rails and robe hooks. Once you have made the layout, it is time to measure how much space you have available for the tub. Only now are you ready to consider the styles that will fit in the space, in addition to the size of the tub.
  • Consider the tub materials and compare the advantages and disadvantages of each type, to ensure that the material will suit your requirements.
  • Remember that the tub must be usable by the home occupants. This means that a small bath will certainly not help a tall person. You want comfort and will want to ensure that the people who use the bath will at least be able to lie back and relax. However, don’t select an extra-large tub for the sake of it being impressive. The larger the tub, the more water it will require to fill up for comfortable bathing.
  • Quality and functionality must be priority before you think budget. If the bath cannot withstand the occasional bumps and looks cheap, then it will not add value to your bathroom renovation outcome.
